Random Observations...

1.)  I have a rather large paper cut on my thumb and have absolutely no recollection getting it.

2.)  That's the second time in a week that I've seen a car with a license plate that contains "SND" :)

Chocolate shake you are not

It was Arby's for dinner tonight and I was looking forward to the chocolate shake I had ordered.  Food arrives at home, I pop the straw in and take a big sip...

...this is NOT chocolate.

I take the cover off, fully expecting bright pink to be staring back at me, but no, it is a definite chocolate color.  I stir it, confused, and decide to try another sip as I must be going crazy.

Ok, I can sense a hint of chocolate at the beginning, but we definitely finish with an overwhelming artificial strawberry flavor.  I hate artifical strawberry.

But it's fully chocolate colored.  I force the rest of my family to taste it to assure me I'm not crazy.  Nope, they assure me, definitely chocolate start, with a strong berry finish and maybe even a bit of mocha throw in.

Maybe the berry isn't as strong as I imagine it.  I take another sip.  Nope...overwhelming aftertaste.  I hate wasting a shake, but I just can't drink this horrid mutant version.

I am chocolate shakeless. :(

Someone should do research on this

I swear that women that work together get on the same wavelength some days in terms of what to wear.  Anyone else find this to be true?

At my school, the kids are divided into teams in each grade level.  All the beginning ESL students are on one team together, so I work with the same team/teachers all day.  There are five of us in total on the team: Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and me (paraprofessional).  The Science teacher is the only male representative on the team of teachers.

Well, we trickle into work today, and the four of us women all realize that we are all dressed completely similar.  The fashion of the day today:  khaki pants with a black top.  We found it rather amusing.

How does this happen?  For me at least I tend to wear colors depending on the day of the week.  For example, I'm more prone to wear black the beginning of the week (Mon or Tues).  Red and blue seem to be more mid-week (Tues. or Wed.--Wed seeming to be the ideal day for red).  End of the week has green as a better fit in my mind.

Am I weird, or do other people have color/day of the week ties in their mind?

I know this might be a little late, but a radio station here does a revisit of past Studio C interviews and performances every night at 7:00 (Central Time). Tonight it's Newton Faulkner, BNL and Jewel.

The BNL performance is from 1999. I honestly don't know how much you'll hear. The music should be the live stuff they did for the radio station.

Oh, and tomorrow night, Carbon Leaf is in the lineup.

Crazy weather...tasty fajitas

The weather here the past week has been completely crazy. 

A week ago today it was snowing non-stop.  We got probably 4 or 5 inches where I live, more in other parts of the state.

On Saturday (for those keeping track, that would be only 5 days later) it was 65 degrees.

On Sunday, up in the Northern part of the state, they got up to 2 feet of snow.

Today, I woke up to snow falling again, but at least it was about 35 out so nothing stayed down.  All I ask is that Mother Nature pick a season and stay with it!

No much else interesting went on today.  I had really tasty homemade fajitas tonight.  We haven't had those in forever.  Soooo good :)

hmmm...cookies sound better

So, I have this really bad tendency to procrastinate.  But not just any procrastinating...procrastinating by baking.  It's tastier that way.  Not only are you avoiding what you should be doing, but you end up with something yummy at the end.  Is that not a win-win situation? :P

Um, so yeah.  I should be getting something done right now, but I think I'm gonna make chocolate chip cookies.

Oh Noes!

My TV viewing for Thursday nights just got more complicated.  They took away my enhanced LOST episodes!  Those were really good this season.  It meant I didn't have to tape episodes each week to re-watch them, plus they included REALLY good bits of info.

I just looked in the paper and the good news is that Reaper is back with new episodes!  The only good show on the WB.  The bad news is that it's now on at the EXACT same time as LOST.  Who in the world decides that they're going to put their show up against LOST?  Seriously?  It used to be on Tuesdays at 8:00pm when nothing else was on, it was perfect.  *sigh*

Now, back to the exciting part...it's Thursday...LOST is on!  Supposedly we find out who Ben's spy on the boat is.  It better not be Michael...although I can totally see it turning out that way.  Oh, and someone's gonna die tonight.  Here's hoping it's a minor character...don't really see at this point how it could be a major character.  Although really anything can happen with LOST.  Just as long as they don't kill Desmond, I'll be good ;)

Shamrockfest!

 It was a good weekend, I'm glad I took a leap into insanity!

Highlights:

- Hanging out with

- Meeting Kristen's brother Adam, MA's friend

[info]on_reserve, and Willow's friend Lee.
- Driving from the airport at night and suddenly seeing the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Capital Building, and Iwo Jima Memorial.  Why yes, yes I did "see" the sights, does that make me slightly less crazy for traveling halfway across the country to see a concert?  No?  Didn't think so.
- Lee showing me and Jen how the heck to use the metro.  Oh, and our ride back on the Metro after Shamrockfest.  Many drunk people + bored train operator = amusing times indeed.  "There are 18 doors that will be opening on this train. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 doors opening.  Please use all 18 doors for your safety."  "Sir, you can't be riding that on the train." 
- Hearing CL do War Was in Color.  Sadly, I don't remember much of their set.  I was very happy to hear this song, though...one of my favorites.
- All of the GBS set.  Really good mix of songs, and long too.
- Russell freaking Crowe.  As soon as Alan said, "Oscar winning actor," I was 99% sure who was going to come out, but I didn't think it was possible.  I thought Alan was pulling an Ed Robertson, "We'd like to bring out Sarah MacLachlan right now.......but she's not here."  Nope.  Russell freaking Crowe walked onstage.  There is a connection between Russell and GBS, in case anyone's wondering.  Russell's band regularly covered one of GBS's songs "How Did We Get from Saying I Love You?"  Russell and Alan eventually met, and decided to co-write some songs.  Alan now plays in Russell's band The Ordinary Fear of God, and the co-written songs, along with the GBS cover are on the latest album, My Hand, My Heart.

So, yeah, good times.  If only I had more frequent flier miles, I would do this whole travel across the country for good music and good friends thing more often :)
